The 'JCB' was inspired by my Grandfather, John Crosson Barnes, and takes some styling queues from a vintage piece he wore when he moved his family from Scotland to Australia in the mid-1960s. We have modernised the styling (and sizing), and added our own design flavour, without sacrificing the charm of the original piece, or comparable pieces of the era. The JCB is offered in three case varieties (Rose, Silver, and Gold), and includes a nice blend of brushed and polished stainless steel surfaces. Sizing comes in at a more modern (but still classy) 38mm diameter, with a 20mm lug width, and a 47mm lug-to-lug. Case thickness is just 9.3mm, with a total height of 12.3mm including the caseback and a lovely double-domed sapphire. An important aspect we considered when designing the JCB' was the all-purpose nature of watches back in the 50s and 60s when these pieces were being produced. The average person was lucky and proud when they had a watch (there weren't full watch-boxes like the average watch enthusiast has these days!), and they 'dressed it up' and wore it with a suit, or 'dressed it down' and wore it doing daily tasks as needed. Enter the JCB, which has the elegance of a dress piece, and is comfortable under a cuff, but also includes some features/functionality that ensure it's up to the punishment of your everyday activities: - sapphire crystal to withstand scratches; - a screw-down case-back and crown for improved water resistance (you won't need to stress about rain, washing the dishes, or bathing the kids like you do with so many dress pieces); - tasteful lume plots at 12, 3, 6 and 9 accompanying the lume on the hands to assist with low-light visibility; - a regulated Miyota 9039 movement to ensure reliable, accurate time telling. We've also designed a beautiful piece of artwork to adorn the caseback; a stylised Scottish Thistle in honour of my Grandfather, and my Scottish heritage. Note: Each JCB comes partnered with: - a genuine leather strap and matching gloss buckle; - a 'Beads of Rice' style bracelet in matching case finish. A note on shipping: while the shipping situation has improved dramatically since 2020, Covid-19 continues to cause sporadic postal disruptions around the globe. To ensure reliable deliveries, we switch between Australia Post and standard DHL for international shipments, based on service times for each customer. All Australian orders are shipped express via Australia Post.
